November 2016 Newsletter - Three Topics of Importance

Dear BackupEDGE User,

Last month, we announced that on Saturday, December 31st, 2016, all BackupEDGE 2.x products will reach the end of their support life.

Phone support has already ended, and as of January 1, 2017, email support will also end.

As an incentive to upgrade, we've lowered the price of the BE3PUL upgrade from $250 to $200. This will still include a one year Support and Maintenance Subscription (SMS).

Prices for BE3PUL2, BE3PUL3, BE3PUL4, and BE3PUL5, with 2 to 5 year Support and Maintenance Subscriptions, have also been lowered to match. Please contact your reseller or our Sales Department for additional information and volume pricing.

Friday, December 30th, 2016 will be the last day that upgrades from BackupEDGE 2.x to BackupEDGE 3.x will be available for sale. After that date, licensed users will be required to pay the full retail price of $500(US) to move from BackupEDGE 2.x to BackupEDGE 3.x.

Emergency call-in support for BackupEDGE 2.x products will remain available at our published consulting rates.

Please remember to check our Linux Support Tables and Unix Support Tables to make sure we support your operating system(s). You must remove BackupEDGE 2.x products completely before installing 3.x products.

 

Amazon DevPay Users - End Of Life - July 31, 2017

Amazon Web Services has informed us that on July 31, 2017 they will be discontinuing their DevPay solution. DevPay is used by our AWS Resource Type.

All accounts will need to add a standard S3 Resource (S3CLOUD) and begin backing up to it before July 31, 2017, as ALL data in AWS Resources will be lost after that date.

BackupEDGE 3.x users must be running 03.01.01 or later to access S3CLOUD Resources, so please check to make sure you are running under this or a more recent release. If you are running an older version of 3.x, please renew your Support and Maintenance Subscription so that you may upgrade to our latest release.

BackupEDGE 2.x users must upgrade to 3.x to access S3CLOUD Resources by December 30, 2016 to take advantage of the current $200 upgrade offer. After that, it will cost $500 as you'll need to purchase a new retail 3.x license.

Microlite Website - Product / Demo Downloads

The Downloads section of our web site was recently revamped and simplified. It is no longer necessary to register or complete any kind of form to be able to download. A simple lists guides you to the correct link for your operating system release, and the link downloads the correct self-installing executable file.

We hope this simplifies your download experience.
