Ubuntu Linux Family Support - BackupEDGE 3.x
Older Distributions
BackupEDGE and its disaster recovery component RecoverEDGE are tested against a large number of distributions in the Ubuntu Linux family. The table below lists operating systems NO LONGER SUPPORTED by BackupEDGE. The final release of BackupEDGE which may be installed on any of these releases is 03.04.02 build 2. All other information here is for legacy reference only. |
NOTE: Linux server distributions are generally supported for finite periods of time, generally two to five years, by the developer releasing the product. BackupEDGE support may be limited, even under Subscription, after the operating system has reached the developer's official end-of-life. |

Auto UpdatersIn many cases, if you run the operating system auto updater, such as
In some instances attempting to re-create RecoverEDGE images may fail after an operating system upgrade. Before calling technical support, download and update / upgrade to the latest BackupEDGE release listed as having support for your updated operating system release. Bare Metal Disaster RecoverRecoverEDGE releases prior to 03.01.04 supported FDISK partitions only. See our GPT Support Table for a list of operating systems currently supporting GPT in RecoverEDGE. RecoverEDGE bare metal disaster recovery currently supports the LVM2 volume manager under 2.6 and later kernels for backup and disaster recovery. IPV6 networking is not supported; only IPV4. As long as IPV4 is configured properly, it will be used. IPV6 may also be configured but will be ignored. Bare metal disaster recovery, i.e. RecoverEDGE, requires an intimate knowledge of the base Linux operating system involved, the vendor supporting the operating system, and the updates and changes the vendor makes. Only authorized updates from the vendor relating to kernel and storage issues can be supported. For example, if you were to install Ubuntu Linux, then download the latest and greatest kernel from www.kernel.org and install it, two things would occur. One, you are no longer really running Ubuntu Linux, and two, it is unlikely RecoverEDGE would still function. Please limit your updates to those provided by the vendor.
