Problem Description
After installing a new IDE optical device, we can't seem to get a good backup/verify with BackupEDGE.
Cause
After checking that your media is compatible, check your installation of the device.
Solution
1) Use an 80-way ATAPI cable, not a 40-way cable. 80-way cables are electrically superior and mask electrical noise and interference better.
2) The device must be jumpered to master or slave. It may not be set to cable select.
3) A device may not be set to slave unless there is a device selected as master on the same cable.

Notes
As with all optical devices, it is important to install the latest available firmware. Check with your drive's manufacturer.
