BackupEDGE 01.01.0x for OpenServer 5
|
Problem Description
|
If the OpenServer 5 operating system used to create the boot
diskettes
did not contain a boot filesystem, do not
create a boot filesystem during boot recovery.
|
Cause
|
When OpenServer 5 is installed via the "fresh install" method,
a root and boot filesystem will exist. However, if OpenServer 5
is installed via the "in-place upgrade" method, only a root
filesystem exists. If you create a boot filesystem when that
filesystem did not exist previously, the restore will be
unsuccessful.
|
Solution
|
Verify the filesystem layout that existed when the boot diskettes
were made. One way to do this would be to keep a hard copy
of the RecoverEDGE 2 Hard Drive Status Report and refer to this
report while performing a restore through RecoverEDGE 2. A copy
of this file is placed in /etc/RE2.REPORT when the boot diskettes
are created.
